LAURA JUNE ALBERT
Laura is a seventh generation European-Canadian settler based in Vancouver, in unceded Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil- Waututh), and xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam) territories. She is grateful to the Coast Salish peoples for their continued resistance and leadership despite unjust and ongoing colonization in this beautiful place that she knows and loves as home.
Laura June Albert, M.A., is a dance educator, producer, researcher, and artist; seemingly disparate practices collectively rooted in her process-driven methodology. Her work in these various spheres is centred around representation, access, and inclusion in the arts, and the role of the artist in society. Laura’s current research investigates the experiential body as a liberatory landscape for anticolonial and anticapitalist self-determination and love. She has worked in the arts as a performer, instructor, and lecturer in over ten cities in North America and abroad.
