LAURA JUNE ALBERT
Hello! My name is Laura June Albert, I use she/her pronouns, and I am glad that you have made your way to my website. Welcome!
I am a seventh generation European-Canadian settler based in Vancouver, in unceded Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil- Waututh), and xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam) territories. I am the first generation in my family to grow up on the west coast of this continent. I love these beautiful lands and waters, and I hold tremendous respect for Coast Salish peoples for their ongoing leadership and stewardship of this place that I know and love as home.
I am an educator, researcher, cultural organizer, and artist. My research investigates the experiential body as a liberatory landscape for anticolonial and anticapitalist self-determination and liveness. I’ve studied dance my whole life, hold an MA in Contemporary Arts Studies from SFU, and have worked in the arts as a performer, instructor, and lecturer in over ten cities in North America and abroad.
